Dr. Joshua Smith joined the OMSC team in 2015 and follows in the footsteps of his father who also practiced dentistry in the U.S. Air Force Dental Corps.
Dr. Smith is a graduate of Brigham Young University, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology. He then went on to complete his dental training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). Dr. Smith began his military service while in dental school after accepting a Health Professions Scholarship. His subsequent Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency was completed in 2012 at David Grant USAF Medical Center, located at Travis Air Force Base in northern California.
Dr. Smith is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and he is currently a Fellow in the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. His educational pursuits continued after residency as a faculty member of an AEGD residency program at Wright-Patterson Medical Center and served as Chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from 2014-2016.
As an Active Duty member of the United States Air Force, Dr. Smith has had the opportunity to travel widely and live in a number of communities, including: Idaho, Guam, Texas, Mississippi, the San Francisco Bay area, and the Philippines.
An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Smith enjoys hiking, fishing and golfing in his spare time. His wife, Jenni, and their three sons love traveling and spending time together in the community.
